Neels Gap, Georgia
After the farewell on Sunday, the boys have hiked approx. 40 miles and are now at Neels Gap which is close to Blood Mountain and Blairsville, GA. Tyler said Blood Mountain was prettier than Mount LeConte in the Smokies, but I will have to see to believe. They planned to stay at the Walasi-Yi Center on Monday night because of the storm coming in on Tuesday. The Center charges $15/person for electricity, running water, and a roof over your head. Chances are, they will not be hiking much on Tuesday due to severe thunderstorms. Tyler said he was a little sore but happy his knee (that usually gives him pain) and back were still in good shape. They said the shelter was full and they were excited about getting the chance to meet other hikers on Monday night.
